6 Months - When it Rains it Pours
Eli is currently weighing in at around 18 pounds and is becoming a real sweetheart. He likes to flirt with the ladies by flashing his awesome widow's peak. He is not crawling yet but does manage to occasionally gain some ground by rolling back and forth. We have tried baby cereal a few times and Eli really doesn't like it. I hope this changes soon since it is a personal goal of mine to raise him to enjoy food. If we get stuck on rice cereal, I think my goal is in serious peril. Maybe the baby cereal is too simple for him and I need to try the Indian Dahl leftovers. hah!
I am not normally an emotional wreck with a drama filled life but I have sure had a healthy dose of both in the last week.
Eli has been pretty sick with a high fever and cough. Swine flu or not, whatever it is, it is nasty and I want it to be done. Eli and I have been quarantined in the house since Friday morning when he first showed symptoms. I think this is the longest I have ever gone without contact outside of the house. I didn't realize how hard it would be but I am seriously struggling with being stuck inside. It doesn't help one bit that I am feeling a bit sick myself. Having a sick baby is horrible. He has been in pretty good spirits but sometimes is so sad and just doesn't understand what is going on. Saturday night was the worse when he woke up in his crib so congested that he started throwing up bile. He was also choking a bit and having a hard time breathing. Anyway, we really panicked, and called 911. By the time the ambulance arrived, he was breathing much better so we decided not to continue to the hospital. The ambulance drivers were really helpful and checked his vitals and oxygen sats and he was doing fine. And of course they wouldn't be able to do much more at the hospital. It was a very LONG night.
And, here's the icing on the cake. Oscar is currently recovering from an endoscope operation to remove a necklace charm that he swallowed. ugh, and that is all I can say about that. But, the operation went really well he is home and doing great.
Along with the bad, there are also some good things happening around our house...Travis is starting a new job on Monday. The new position is with AERS, a local tech company, and it should be a little more interesting and challenging than his current position. We have joined the local YMCA and I have been swimming two times a week and Eli has been going to a Strollerfit class with me. Strollerfit sounds like it might be a pretty relaxing work out but I tell you this class is not for the weak. I also turned 30 on Monday! yoinks! But I'm feeling good about it. It helps that Travis bought me some beautiful diamond earrings that match my wedding ring. Good thing he paid that bill before the dog got sick.
And one final blessing... Congrats to our cousins Jes and Mark Hagen who just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Weston Nathanael.
The world is still a good place! Love you all.

WOW! So sorry to hear our precious one has been so sick and his Mother not the best either! Hope all is going much better for all of you including Oscar. And we don't think the sun has been shining in your area with all the rain which doesn't give you an over abundance of vitamin D! Congrats to Travis on the job move and may the bucks come flying in for all those things you would like to spend it on like a diamond necklace to go with the earrings!! I still think you need to send out a Christmas form letter... oh, the blog post treat you are in for with my Christmas card rant!
Oh dear Kate. I'm not really into arguing with the Christmas Card police! hahahaha... But it's far too late for a letter! I have a website with monthly updates. Do I just repeat myself in a silly christmas themed letter? I could just print the front page and attach to the card? Seems like a waste of paper to me. I have already chopped a tree for christmas so I will save another tree by keeping my thoughts in digital form.
