Week 3 - Back to work for Dad!

Cute moment of the week: Eli was hanging out on a blanket and was quite happy when all of a sudden he breaks out into a shrill shriek. When I got to him I realized that his fist had a handful of hair tightly grasped and was attempting to yank it out. Which wasn't making Eli too happy. He certainly was ready to take out that crazy guy who was pulling his hair.
We had a visit with Great Grandma and Grandpa and also met Uncle Josh and Davannah for the first time! We didn't take a whole lot of pictures this week but here they are: Week 3.

Week 2 - Adjusting

Our little man continues to amaze us. He's definitely a mover and we can't keep him unattended for long. This week he somehow managed to roll himself over from his stomach to his back when he was lying on the couch. And last night he managed to squirm over in his crib and he was nearly to the edge when I picked him up for our late night feeding.
Elias had a good time at his baby shower yesterday. Somehow he managed to sleep through being passed around all afternoon. Thanks to Kyla and Sylvia for pulling a great party together and to everyone who attended. Cake was delicious!
I think that's really all I have to say for the week. I have uploaded a new photo album for this week: Elias Week 2

Week 1 - Home from the Hospital
It is hard to believe that it has already been a week. We thought that we would be lucky and only have to spend a night in the hospital but Elias was more interested in sleeping than feeding so we decided to spend another night. So, in total we were at the hospital for three days and two nights. The hospital food is so horrible but we had lots of guests bringing us treats which was great. Thanks everyone! The hospital room has a chair that folds into a bed so I was able to stay and help with Eli both nights. When we left the hospital the feeding was under control only after we called in the big guns and had a visit from a lactation consultant. But, when we got home, the change of environment set things back again. He's still not latching consistently but we are cheating and using something that makes it easier for him to latch. Now we're having fun weaning him off of it.
Feeding issues aside, we have really had an awesome week. It is such a great feeling to see Elias start to respond to us and his environment. He is so special and we really have been blessed. We are both lacking sleep but this awesome little guy keeps us going. There have been so many precious moments already! We realized that we are a bit rusty in our children's songs so we purchased Elias his first CD. Raffi!!! One day he is going to get sick of us singing Baby Beluga over and over and over again. We went for our first family walk in our fancy UPPAbaby stroller (Thanks Bob!). Elias' umbilical cord fell off on Friday, unfortunately, we haven't found it. Gooo innie! His hair is starting to look a bit more red, but we're not sure yet what colour his hair will be. He may have also picked up his father's bandy legs.
We have had three mishaps with diaper changing, all have been quite comedic. The first was in the hospital, I went to get a cloth to clean him, when I turned around there was a 3ft golden water show, landing only 6 inches from the edge of Mommy's bed. I'm not sure Chrissy would have enjoyed waking up like that. Another mishap happened after Elias improved his aim... bullseye! I was busy cleaning stuff up when I noticed that he stopped crying... I looked up to a relaxed face and realized there was a tickling sensation on my chest, more laundry! If you haven't seen the commercial, it is time you see it. I think we may invest in a pee pee teepee or two!
We have updated the photo gallery with some new pics so have a look. We'll try to keep the photos coming!
